Friends and strangers, I would like to propose an idea.
I would like you to challenge me and encourage me to keep my creativity flowing, to keep my brain in motion, and to finish all songs than I start.
Each week for one year I write a new song and record it with my little home recorder and post it online to myspace.com/allisonpolansmusic, to my Tumblr account, and a video to Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/user2519382) and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/owlsIItrees). I am allowing myself to have friends come write with me, record with me, but it has to be done each week by the end of Saturday night at 11:59PM EST.
What I ask of you, besides your constructive feedback, are inspirations. Believe me, there’s a lot going on in this mind of mine but I want to branch out to new vocabulary, and new ideas.
Please submit words I should include or themes I should work around, and I will credit you in assisting on the song. You will be helping out more than you know.
Who knows, maybe some of these songs will become papertrees tunes one day and we’ll have you to thank for the inspiration.
Love,
Allison
P.S. This is the end of week one of my project. Here is song 1 of 52. I’d like to thank NPR for your song challenge to get me moving, Michelle Holshue for always being up to date in social media and being my test-ears for new tunes and bringing great ideas to the table, Matt Welsh for being my computer guru, and a far away fella for being the truth behind the song. Good comes out of almost everything.
